I don't remember being so cold.  And I ran through the winter last year!  Iowa must be the coldest place on Earth!  (I know that's not true, but I thought I was tough.)

Right before Will and I headed out the door, I checked the weather channel again.  The temperature had dropped six degrees and the wind had increased during the prior forty-five minutes.  I was worried about Will.  The wind chill was 11 degrees.  At the first sign of his discomfort, I was heading back.

Will did great.  He even fell asleep!  I was miserable, but all I could do was run back home.  The wind started to increase about half way through.  My nose felt funny--maybe a bit numb?  Under my beanie, I knew my ears were bright red.  Heading down hill, with about a mile and a half left, the wind picked up even more.  Like two weeks ago, I felt like I was running up hill, but I was actually running down hill.  I automatically hunched over the stroller more.  I kept telling myself, you don't have to run when it's 11 degrees again!  The whole while, Will slept on.

Eleven hours later, I am thinking I under dressed.  I needed a wind-breaker of some kind and some thermals.  I'll probably try it again.  I must be crazy.

Crazy in all of the right ways! Good job doing it anyway. It is especially good to overdress when you have a jogger because you have a pocket you can easily stash your jacket in if you don't need it.

BRRRR!!! That even sounds cold! You definately win the prize for the day!! I'm with you, time to find warmer running clothes. I know that I read that Sasha suggests a ski mask, this morning I felt like I could have used one, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to wear one. I'm not sure that it is a vanity problem so much as I think that I might get clastraphobia under there. I always pull my hair in a ponytail and the whole thing sounds scratchy and itchy and yucky... I guess that if it gets much colder I'll know for sure what it feels like!!

Great endurance today!!!

You ARE tough!! I don't think I ever ran outside in 11 degrees since getting out of Russia, and that was a looong time ago. My biggest problem are my hands - always cold, despite the gloves. In the temps you're running, I think mittens would work better. Definitely wear 2 layers of thermals and wind proof jacket on top (and wind pants, if you don't mind somewhat restricted movement). Ski mask (balaklava) would help too - check running stores, they make it out of neoprene these days, should be comfortable enough. But even when dressed right, it still takes a lot of guts to go out and run in such cold, so you should be proud for getting out!

Oh my! I'm feeling really spoiled as I read this from St. George! The coldest I've ran in is when I ran through the winter (about 20 degrees on a regular basis) in Heber a couple years ago. I agree you need a windbreaker, isn't it kinda damp in Iowa? Well, kudos to you- I think you deserve a big mug of hot chocolate!
